Rare WW2 Nazi German 1938 Adolf Hitler & Miklós Horthy Friendship Postcard – Dual Nürnberg Cancels

Original 1938 Third Reich propaganda postcard depicting Adolf Hitler and Miklós Horthy, the Regent and leader of Hungary from 1920 to 1944. The paired portraits were intended to emphasize the friendship and increasingly close political relationship between Germany and Hungary during the prewar period.

The printed caption reads:

“Staatstreffen Hitler – v. Horthy”

Meaning approximately “State Meeting: Hitler – von Horthy.”

The postcard is particularly interesting from a postal-history standpoint because it carries two different Nürnberg special cancellations with different dates on the same card.

The reverse bears a 6+19 Pfennig Reichsparteitag 1938 Hitler commemorative stamp, struck with a large Nürnberg Reichsparteitag 1938 special cancellation dated September 5, 1938. It also carries a 1 Pfennig Hindenburg definitive, struck with a completely different Nürnberg special cancellation dated August 27, 1938.

Thus, the card appears to have received special-event cancellations on two separate occasions more than a week apart, making it considerably more interesting than an ordinary unused example of this propaganda postcard.

The reverse also retains its period handwritten message and address and is publisher marked:

“Verlag: O. Struck, Berlin-Lichterfelde.”

A very interesting original piece combining Hitler-Horthy political imagery, German-Hungarian history, a Reichsparteitag commemorative stamp, Hindenburg definitive and two different dated Nürnberg special cancels.

Condition: Original period condition with expected age and handling wear. Both stamps remain attached and the special cancellations are strongly visible. Please see photographs for exact condition.
