SS Steel Helmet soldier WW2 Nazi German 1936 Wolfgang Willrich Art Postcard Military Field Post Stamp

Original pre-WWII German military art postcard featuring a distinctive portrait of a German SS soldier wearing a steel helmet. The artwork is clearly signed and dated “Wolfgang Willrich 1936” at the left.

Willrich was a well-known German artist whose highly recognizable military and portrait artwork was widely reproduced during the Third Reich period. This is an earlier 1936 example of his work.

The reverse is printed:

“Angehöriger der Schutzstaffel: Zeichnung von 1936 Wolfgang Willrich”

Translation:

“Member of the Schutzstaffel: Drawing from 1936 by Wolfgang Willrich.”

The reverse is unused for correspondence but has several interesting period ink markings, including a large blue eagle-and-swastika stamp with the partially readable slogan “Gut … Deutsches Heer”, along with a second smaller eagle/swastika marking near the center divider. There is also an old penciled collector notation of “€45.”
