WWII German Comic Soldier Military War Postcards Wehrmacht Humor Art Lengauer

Original lot of 6 WWII-era German humorous military postcards, all published by the Münchener Bildkunstverlag August Lengauer, München.

These colorful illustrated cards feature comical scenes involving German soldiers, military life, rifles, barracks humor, and civilian life. A great matching group with several different Lengauer card numbers visible on the backs, including Nr. 8025, 8026, 8027, 8029, 3102 and 3116.

The cards and their captions include:

• “Nur mit der Ruhe!” — “Just keep calm!” / “Take it easy!”
• “Das Liebste wär dem Landser dieser Starkbier-Panzer!” — roughly, “The soldier’s favorite would be this strong-beer tank!” showing soldiers filling mugs from a humorous beer-barrel tank.
• “Vorbei ist die Beklemmung durch diese Ladehemmung!” — a humorous play on words involving a soldier, his rifle, and an outhouse; Ladehemmung literally refers to a firearm malfunction/jam.
• “Kann nicht schreiben, muß bei den Gewehren bleiben.” — “Can’t write, have to stay with the rifles.”
• “Der Mensch braucht an Halt, daß er net fallt!” — Bavarian dialect, roughly “A man needs something to hold onto so he doesn’t fall!” showing a drunken civilian clinging to a HALT sign.
• “Uns kann keiner — uns können sie alle!!!” — a humorous Bavarian-style drinking scene, roughly meaning “No one can beat us — they can all try!”

The military cards show German Wehrmacht soldiers in uniform, rifles and equipment, including particularly appealing comic scenes involving the beer-barrel “tank,” rifle rack, and soldier in the field latrine.

All six have the distinctive Lengauer Karte publisher mark on the reverse. They appear unused/unmailed with no postal messages or cancellations.

Condition varies with age-related handling, edge/corner wear, surface marks, staining/soiling and other storage wear. One card shows noticeable paper/residue loss on the reverse. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition.
