Antique 1920 German Familien Stammbuch Family Marriage Genealogy Document Prussia

Original antique German Familien-Stammbuch (Family Record Book) belonging to the Trapp family, with official handwritten civil and church entries dating to 1920.

This was a personal family record book used to document marriages, births, children, religious ceremonies and other important family events. The printed introduction incorporates provisions of the German Reich law of February 6, 1875 concerning civil registration and marriage, the legislation that established standardized state registration of births, marriages and deaths throughout the German Empire.

The principal entry records the marriage of Robert Trapp and Marta/Martha Lieben… on May 5, 1920. Robert Trapp is recorded as a Kaufmann (merchant/businessman), born October 18, 1891, and the bride appears to have been born December 20, 1900. Both are associated with Biersdorf in the entries.

Especially interesting are the numerous original official ink stamps, signatures and handwritten certifications, including the civil marriage certification and a separate certification of the church wedding on May 5, 1920.

The children section contains an entry for:

Luise Trapp — born in Biersdorf, December 22, 1919, with additional official certification and ink stamp.

Another section records a religious ceremony at Biersdorf dated January 29, 1920, accompanied by another official church/parish stamp.

The book itself is titled:

“Familien-Stammbuch nebst den hauptsächlichsten Bestimmungen des Reichsgesetzes vom 6. Februar 1875 über die Beurkundung des Personenstandes und die Eheschließung”

Approximately translated:

“Family Record Book together with the principal provisions of the Reich Law of February 6, 1875 concerning the certification of civil status and marriage.”

A very nice original German genealogical and civil-history document with identifiable family names, dates, locations, official seals and signatures. Excellent research material for collectors of German genealogy, Prussian civil records, antique documents, marriage records and family history.

Condition shows age and use, including staining/foxing, edge and cover wear, and general handling consistent with a document over 100 years old. Interior entries remain quite legible. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition and contents.
