Offered here is a high-quality reproduction German SA (Sturmabteilung) “Horst Wessel” cap tally / Mützenband, made in the style of period political headgear insignia.

The tally is constructed from long black woven ribbon with the name:

“HORST WESSEL”

prominently displayed across the front. The lettering is flanked on both sides by SA-style flag designs featuring swastikas.

The long ribbon was designed in the style of a cap tally, with sufficient length for attachment and tying at the rear of the appropriate headgear. The ends exhibit some fraying, visible in the photographs.

Horst Wessel was an SA member whose death in 1930 was subsequently used extensively in Nazi Party propaganda, and his name appeared on a variety of period organizational and commemorative material.
