Original WW2 German 1939 Luftwaffe Plane Heinkel He 111 Bombers at Jürgenfelde Airfield Photo

Excellent original pre-WWII German Luftwaffe photograph dated September 1, 1939, showing a group of Heinkel He 111 twin-engine bombers lined up on an airfield.

Several aircraft can be seen across the field, including a particularly clear He 111 in the foreground with its Luftwaffe markings visible on the fuselage and tail. The photograph was apparently taken from among spectators or personnel standing along the edge of the field.

The handwritten German inscription on the reverse reads:

“He 111 landen auf dem E Hafen Jürgenfelde. 1. Sept. 1939.”

Translation:

“He 111s landing at the Jürgenfelde E-airfield. September 1, 1939.”

The date makes this an especially interesting historical photograph: September 1, 1939 was the opening day of the German invasion of Poland and the beginning of World War II in Europe.

A very desirable dated aviation photograph for a collection of Luftwaffe, Heinkel He 111, German bomber, airfield, or WWII aviation material.

The photograph has attractive period deckled edges and measures approximately 4 x 2¾ inches. It shows normal age and handling wear consistent with an original period photograph. Please examine the photographs carefully for condition and see ruler for size comparison.
