WWI Imperial German 1914 Star of the Grand Cross Iron Cross – Hindenburg Star

Offered here is an exceptionally high-quality museum-grade replica of the Imperial German 1914 Star of the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross (Stern zum Großkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes), commonly associated with Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg and therefore often referred to as the Hindenburg Star (Hindenburgstern).

This was an extraordinarily prestigious Imperial German military decoration. The Star of the Grand Cross was awarded only twice in its history: an earlier version to Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher and the 1914 version to Paul von Hindenburg in 1918. The 1914 version is accordingly known as the Hindenburg Star.

This impressive museum-quality reproduction features a large eight-pointed radiant gold-colored star, with a prominent 1914 Iron Cross mounted at its center. The cross displays the traditional Imperial crown at the top, “W” cipher in the center and “1914” date at the bottom. Museum examples of this design are documented with the same basic arrangement of a gilded radiant star and overlaid 1914 Iron Cross.

The contrast between the brilliant gold-colored starburst, silver-colored borders and black center of the Iron Cross creates an exceptionally striking appearance. The numerous individually defined rays give the star excellent depth and dimension.

The reverse is finished in gold color and equipped with a substantial vertical pin and catch arrangement, allowing the piece to be displayed in the traditional breast-star configuration.

This is a particularly impressive reproduction due to its large size, brilliant finish and substantial construction. The original award was among the highest and rarest decorations of Imperial Germany, making a quality reproduction an excellent alternative for historical displays and collections.

IMPORTANT: This is a modern museum-quality replica/reproduction and is NOT being represented or sold as an original WWI-period manufactured award.

An outstanding display piece for an Imperial German, Prussian, WWI medal, Iron Cross, military history or museum-style collection.
