Offered here is an exceptional-quality reproduction of the Imperial German 1914 Grand Cross of the Iron Cross (Großkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes), complete with its full-length black and white neck ribbon.

This is the impressive large-sized neck-worn version of the Iron Cross, substantially larger than the standard Iron Cross decorations. The Grand Cross was the highest grade of the Imperial Iron Cross series and was intended as a neck decoration rather than a pin-back or buttonhole award.

The cross features a beautifully executed silver-colored frame with sharply defined beaded borders surrounding a black center. The obverse carries the traditional Imperial design with the Prussian crown at the top, “W” cipher in the center, and “1914” date in the lower arm. The reverse displays the earlier 1813 date and Imperial motifs.

The cross is also marked “800” at the upper edge immediately below the suspension eye, a particularly nice detail that adds greatly to its period-style appearance.

Included is the full-length black and white Imperial neck ribbon, allowing the cross to be properly displayed as a neck decoration. The combination of the oversized cross, broad ribbon and crisp detailing makes this an extremely impressive display piece.
