Rare Weimar German Stamp Sheet “Wählt Hindenburg” Vote Hindenburg Overprint Half Sheet 25 Stamps

Rare and very impressive half sheet of 25 German “Wählt Hindenburg” election overprint stamps, preserved together as a large intact multiple and offered in MNG (mint no gum) condition.

The sheet consists of 25 perforated stamps arranged 5 × 5, each based on the German 400 Mark Deutsches Reich inflation-era design and boldly overprinted:

“Wählt Hindenburg”
“Vote Hindenburg”

The overprint refers to Paul von Hindenburg and German presidential election campaigning. Hindenburg was one of the most important political and military figures of early 20th-century Germany, serving as a celebrated First World War field marshal before becoming President of Germany from 1925 until his death in 1934.

This is particularly desirable as a large intact half-sheet multiple rather than the individual examples normally encountered.

Sheet Details:

The margins retain the striking printed accounting/denomination figures:

Across the top:
4000 – 8000 – 12000 – 16000 – 20000

Down the left side:
400 – 800 – 1200 – 1600 – 2000

The right selvage additionally carries a printed “5”, while the upper-right margin has an old handwritten pencil “18.” Plus signs are also present in the lower side margins.

All 25 stamps remain joined with their original perforations intact, and the generous surrounding selvage makes this a very attractive display piece.

The reverse shows the complete sheet structure and confirms the stamps are MNG – Mint No Gum. There is no cancellation or postal usage visible.

An unusual piece of German political, election and philatelic history, particularly appealing to collectors of Hindenburg material, Weimar-era political ephemera, German inflation stamps, election propaganda and unusual overprints. I have seen singles of these sell for over $15 each!

Condition: MNG (Mint No Gum). Complete 25-stamp half sheet with original perforations and substantial selvage. The sheet shows age-related handling including horizontal and vertical folds/creases through portions of the sheet and margins, along with light toning and minor handling wear. Pencil notation “18” at upper right. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition.

Guaranteed original period item. Sold exactly as shown.
