WWII German Luftwaffe Flieger Flight Regiment Book Bahnwärter Lauber – Flg Ausb Rgt 14 Klagenfurt

Offered here is an original WWII German Luftwaffe-issued booklet, “Bahnwärter Lauber” by Gottfried Kölwel, part of the Die Novelle series, No. 8.

What makes this example particularly interesting is the period unit marking prominently stamped across the upper front cover:

“1./Flg. Ausb. Rgt. 14, Klagenfurt”

This identifies the booklet with the 1st Company of Flieger-Ausbildungs-Regiment 14 (Flight/Aircrew Training Regiment 14), Klagenfurt, Austria, giving the piece a direct Luftwaffe training-unit connection.

The bottom of both the cover and title page states:

“Herausgegeben vom Luftwaffenführungsstab Ic/VIII”

Translation: “Published by the Luftwaffe Command Staff, Ic/VIII.”

The title “Bahnwärter Lauber” translates approximately as “Railway Watchman Lauber” or “Railway Keeper Lauber.” The story is by German author Gottfried Kölwel, with illustrations credited on the title page to Kurt Tessmann.

The booklet contains numerous attractive black-and-white line illustrations incorporated throughout the German-language text, including railway and rural scenes. This type of compact publication was intended as reading material for Luftwaffe personnel, making the surviving unit-marked example considerably more interesting than an ordinary civilian literary publication.

Condition: Good original used condition with expected age toning, scattered foxing/spots, minor edge and cover wear and other signs of period handling. The binding remains intact and the interior pages present well overall. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition.

An excellent piece for a collection centered on the Luftwaffe, German military publications, Klagenfurt, Flieger training units, soldier reading material, or WWII German paper ephemera.

Guaranteed original period item.
