Interesting lot of four original Third Reich Era black-and-white photographic/Xerox-style copies of German and European technical material, including two 1939 German skilled-worker documents issued to the same man, Hubert Achten, together with two large vintage radio/electrical schematic sheets.

The most historically interesting pieces are the two related 1939 German Facharbeiter documents for Hubert Achten, born May 2, 1921 in Mülheim-Ruhr. Both relate to his training as an Elektroinstallateur (electrical installer/electrician) with Deutsche Röhrenwerke A.-G., Werk Thyssen.

The first is headed “Facharbeiterbrief” (Skilled Worker Certificate) and records that Achten successfully completed the required skilled-worker examination. It is dated Essen, March 21, 1939, and reproduces the period Industrie- und Handelskammer zu Essen seal incorporating the German eagle and swastika, together with a reproduced signature.

The second, larger certificate is headed “Facharbeiterzeugnis” (Skilled Worker Examination Certificate) and was issued by the Industrie- und Handelskammer für die Stadtkreise Essen, Mülheim-(Ruhr) und Oberhausen zu Essen. It records his apprenticeship with Deutsche Röhrenwerke A.-G., Werk Thyssen, attendance at the vocational school in Mülheim-Ruhr, and completion of the Facharbeiterprüfung. Particularly nice is the recording of his examination results: “Gut” (Good) for the examination, practical portion and theoretical portion. It is likewise dated March 21, 1939 and reproduces the period chamber seal and signatures.

The other two sheets are detailed vintage radio/electrical technical schematics. One shows a complex receiver circuit/component layout incorporating parts marked Ferrix, Astra, Hydra, Loewe and other manufacturers, including an Astra variable mica condenser, coils, switches, antenna connections and related components.

The fourth sheet is a Dutch-language radio schematic headed “PILOTONE-DRIE” Speciaal, advertising N.V. Nijkerk’s Radio. It illustrates the internal electrical layout of a Pilot radio receiver, including antenna, resistors, tubes/valves, transformer, volume control and other components. This makes an unusual addition to the two German occupational documents and suggests the group may have been retained as technical reference material by someone involved with electrical or radio work.

Condition

They show substantial storage and handling wear including wrinkles, creases, edge wear, small tears and losses. The large Facharbeiterzeugnis has particularly noticeable tearing and losses along its upper edge, as shown. Some sheets have curled or uneven edges. Despite the wear, the principal text, seals, illustrations and technical details remain quite clear.

An unusual group combining 1939 German industrial/electrical trade history, Thyssen/Deutsche Röhrenwerke material and vintage radio technology. Sold together exactly as shown.

Offered strictly as historical and collectible material. No political or ideological endorsement is intended.
