WW1 French France Postcards Bombed Destroyed Ruins Battle Destruction

Lot of 2 vintage French postcards from Givet, France, showing historic views of the town and its surroundings.

One postcard is captioned:

“GIVET – Rue du Mont d’Haurs et Fours à Chaux”

It shows the old stone structures, roadway, people and lime-kiln area beneath the Mont d’Haurs fortifications.

The second postcard is an especially interesting ruins/destruction view, showing heavily damaged buildings and disturbed ground. It appears to document wartime or post-battle destruction in the Givet area, although the exact location and date are not identified on the card, so I would not state a specific war with certainty.
