WWI German Imperial Army Soldier Photo Gewehr 98 Rifle Bayonet Full Field Gear Mounted Photograph

Excellent original WWI Imperial German Army soldier photograph, showing a German infantryman standing outside a building in full field equipment with his rifle and fixed bayonet.

The soldier is exceptionally well equipped and provides a strong study of an Imperial German infantryman of the First World War era. Clearly visible are his Gewehr 98-style service rifle, long bayonet, ammunition pouches, leather belt and buckle, tall marching boots and field uniform. He wears the characteristic Imperial German field cap rather than a Pickelhaube.

The photograph is especially desirable because the soldier is shown full length from head to toe, allowing nearly all of his uniform and equipment to be seen. His rifle and bayonet are prominently displayed alongside him.

The photograph remains on its original large embossed photographer-style cardboard mount, making it substantially more impressive for display than the typical small wartime snapshot.
