1936 Nazi German Third Reich Horse Racing Souvenir Stamp Sheet Brown Ribbon Special Cancel

Excellent original 1936 German souvenir sheet featuring the 42 Pfennig “Das Braune Band von Deutschland” horse-racing stamp with its large surrounding souvenir-sheet margins.

The central stamp depicts two racehorses and jockeys and was issued for the famous Das Braune Band von Deutschland international horse-racing event held at München-Riem.

The sheet bears a large and very attractive MÜNCHEN-RIEM commemorative cancellation dated 26.7.36, with the inscription:

“Das braune Band von Deutschland 1936”

Large faint “MÜNCHEN-RIEM” lettering is incorporated into the souvenir-sheet background, making this a much more impressive philatelic piece than the regular individual stamp.

Catalog: Michel Block 4
Stamp: 42 Pfennig Brown Ribbon horse-racing issue
Date: July 26, 1936
Location: München-Riem
Format: Complete souvenir sheet with special event cancellation

The souvenir sheet remains complete with generous margins as shown. Some normal age-related toning and handling are present, but the stamp itself has excellent visual detail and the large München-Riem cancellation displays extremely well.

A desirable piece of 1936 German horse-racing and Third Reich postal history, particularly attractive to collectors of German souvenir sheets, special cancellations and equestrian philately.
