Nazi German Third Reich 1936 Berlin Olympic Games German Stamp Lot – 5 Used Sports Issues

Original 1936 German Berlin Olympic Games postage stamp lot consisting of five different used commemorative stamps from the famous eight-stamp Olympic series issued for the XI Olympic Summer Games in Berlin.

The five stamps depict different Olympic sporting events:

• 4+3 Pf – Diving – Michel 610
• 6+4 Pf – Football/Soccer – Michel 611
• 12+6 Pf – Torch Runner – Michel 613
• 25+15 Pf – Rowing / Double Sculls – Michel 615
• 40+35 Pf – Equestrian Show Jumping – Michel 616

The complete Olympic series was issued in May 1936 and comprised eight different designs by Max Eschle.

All five examples are postally used with period cancellations. Several have especially bold, easily visible cancels, giving the group excellent postal-history character. The higher denominations, including the 25+15 Pf rowing and 40+35 Pf equestrian stamps, are included.

These are five of the eight values in Michel 609–616, so only the 3+2, 8+4 and 15+10 Pf values are needed to complete the basic series.

Condition: Used/gestempelt. Cancellation strength, centering and perforations vary as shown. Some stamps exhibit normal handling and age wear. Please review the enlarged photographs for exact condition.

An attractive group for collectors of 1936 Berlin Olympics memorabilia, German Olympic stamps, Third Reich philately, sports stamps and pre-WWII German postal history.
