WWI Grenada 1916 King George V 1d WAR TAX Stamp MNH

Original World War I Grenada 1 Penny WAR TAX postage stamp, featuring the portrait of King George V and the bold black “WAR TAX” overprint.

Grenada introduced its compulsory 1d war tax on mail in June 1916, and the regular 1d King George V issue was overprinted for this purpose. The tax remained in effect through the First World War period.

This example is MNH – Mint Never Hinged, retaining its original gum with no hinge remnants as stated. The stamp has strong reddish-scarlet color, a clear black WAR TAX overprint and complete perforations.

An attractive colonial WWI issue with crossover appeal to collectors of British Empire, Grenada, King George V and First World War postal history.

Condition: MNH / unmounted mint with original gum. Please review the enlarged photograph for centering, perforations and exact condition.
