Interesting 10-piece group of German civil and family documents dating primarily from 1936–1939, consisting of official Geburtsurkunden (birth certificates) and Heiratsurkunden (marriage certificates) issued through several German Standesamt civil registry offices.
This is especially interesting because the documents appear to form an interconnected family/genealogical group, rather than ten unrelated papers. Names appearing repeatedly include members of the Schmitz, Thull, Janssen and Cremers families.
Many documents carry large period Standesamt official ink seals incorporating the German state eagle and swastika, original registrar signatures, and period Gebührenmarken (official revenue/fee stamps). German civil certificates record births, marriages and family relationships and can contain substantial genealogical information. Berlin.de
Documents & Names Represented
Among the documents visible in the group are:
Anna Maria Gertrud Cremers – Birth certificate recording her birth 13 February 1875 at St. Tönis, daughter of Anton Cremers and Gertrud née Sauren. Issued 22 November 1938, with St. Tönis official seal and fee stamp.
Peter Johann Janssen & Anna Maria Gertrud Cremers – Marriage certificate. Peter Johann Janssen is recorded as born 17 December 1874 in Eysden, Belgium, and Anna Maria Gertrud Cremers as born 13 February 1875 in St. Tönis. Their marriage is recorded as 18 September 1903. The certificate also identifies their parents, making this a particularly useful genealogical document.
Anton Thull & Theodora Ida Janssen – Marriage certificate issued at Solingen, No. 46/1939. Anton Thull, a foundry auxiliary worker (Gießereihilfsarbeiter), was born 11 August 1914. Theodora Ida Janssen was born 20 May 1908 at St. Tönis. Their marriage took place 28 January 1939. Parents listed include Josef Thull, Katharina née Schmitz, Petrus Johannes Janssen and Anna Maria Gertrud née Cremers.
Other certificates concern members of the Thull and Schmitz families, including older family events from the 19th century that were officially certified during the 1930s.
Two smaller Geburtsurkunde certificates dated 13 August 1936 record:
Maria Katharina Schneider, born 13 December 1832 in Tettscheid, daughter of Nikolaus Schneider and Katharina Schlösser.
Peter Josef Schmitz, born 14 December 1847 in Tettscheid, son of Matthias Schmitz and Helena Neus.
These smaller certificates each retain two 10-Pfennig Gebührenmarken, official stamps and signatures.
Historical / Genealogical Interest
This is much better as a single intact group than as individual documents because several certificates cross-reference the same families. Together they provide a small genealogical archive spanning births and marriages from the 1830s through the early 20th century, with the actual certificates predominantly prepared during 1936–1939.
The group illustrates the extensive family information recorded by German civil registries. This is particularly relevant to certificates from this era: German registry records could include names, dates and places of birth, parents and marriage information, and the marriage-register system was expanded in 1938 to record extensive family information. The combination of named individuals, Belgium/Germany connections, occupations, original signatures, revenue stamps, official seals and interconnected family relationships gives the lot good potential for genealogy, local-history and WWII-era German document research.

Original period-used condition throughout. Expect folds, age toning, stains/spotting, creases, punched filing holes, edge wear and occasional tears or paper losses. Several have particularly attractive and clearly struck official seals. Revenue stamps remain attached to a number of the documents.
