RARE WWII Nazi German Hermann Göring Metal Collection Propaganda Leaflet Double Sided

Original WWII-era German double-sided propaganda leaflet promoting the “Metallspende des deutschen Volkes” (Metal Donation of the German People), a wartime campaign calling upon civilians to surrender expendable household metals for Germany’s war economy.

This is one single sheet printed on both sides.

Side 1 – “Deutsche Männer und Frauen!”

The first side is headed:

“Deutsche Männer und Frauen!”
“German Men and Women!”

It calls upon the civilian population to participate in a large “Sammelaktion” (collection campaign) to provide strategically useful metals for Reichsverteidigung.

The text specifically requests expendable objects made from copper, bronze, brass, tin, lead and nickel, describing them as a reserve of valuable materials.

An especially notable passage states that the voluntary metal donation was intended as a birthday gift for the Führer on April 20.

The appeal concludes with the prominently printed name and rank:

“Göring – Generalfeldmarschall”

Side 2 – “Deutsche Hausfrau!”

The reverse is headed:

“Deutsche Hausfrau!”
“German Housewife!”

This side specifically addresses women responsible for German households and asks them to search for unnecessary metal objects that could be contributed to the campaign.

A prominent heading states:

“Kein Gold und kein Silber wird von Dir erwartet!”
“No gold and no silver are expected from you!”

Instead, the requested materials include copper, brass, bronze, nickel, German silver, alpacca, lead and tin.

The leaflet lists numerous possible household donations, including bowls, frames, vases, trays, kitchen utensils, cups, jugs, plates, plaques, figurines, holders, stands, hooks and candlesticks.

It directs civilians to bring the selected objects to their designated collection point during the collection period of March 26 through April 6.

The reverse concludes with the large slogan:

“Deutschland wird siegen!”
“Germany will win!”

At the bottom is the printer/organizational attribution:

“Verantwortlich: Gaupropagandaleitung der NSDAP, Gau Köln-Aachen”

— identifying the NSDAP Gau Propaganda Leadership for the Köln-Aachen district as responsible for the publication.

Historical Interest

An excellent piece of original German home-front ephemera documenting the wartime drive to recover strategically important metals from civilian households. Particularly interesting because both sides survive together as originally issued, with one side carrying the general Göring appeal and the reverse providing detailed instructions aimed specifically at German households.

Condition

Original double-sided paper sheet with period folds, creasing, toning, scattered light staining/marks and minor edge/corner wear. The printing remains strong and highly legible on both sides. Please see all photographs for exact condition.
