WW2 German Wehrmacht Soldiers Sweethearts Military Song Card Postcard lot x 2

1 in stock

Lot of 2 original WWII German military song postcards, both featuring German soldiers saying farewell before departing for military service. An interesting matched pair of wartime photographic cards with complete printed song lyrics.

The first card is titled “Leb wohl, Rosmarie” (“Farewell, Rosmarie”). The photograph shows two uniformed German soldiers saying goodbye to women through a window. The printed song is credited “Worte und Weise: Kapitänleutnant John Jacobsen.” The lyrics concern a soldier and his company marching away, the dangers ahead, comradeship, love and a possible final farewell to Rosmarie.

The second card is titled “Hallo! du Mädel, lebe wohl!” with the subtitle “Abschiedslied” (“Farewell Song”). It shows a uniformed German soldier saying goodbye to two women at a window. Lyrics are credited to Soldat Kurt Kapinski, with the melody credited to Unteroffizier Rudolf Sander. The song describes a soldier departing for enemy territory and saying farewell to his sweetheart and Germany.

Both cards were published by Spezial-Verlag Robert Franke, Hamburg 36, with authorization relating to the song collection of the Großdeutscher Rundfunk.

One postcard is unused on the reverse. The other was period mailed and retains an 8 Pfennig Deutsches Reich postage stamp, a clear 1942 cancellation, handwritten correspondence and a violet military/Feldpost-style unit marking.

A nice pair for a collection of WWII German postcards, military music, soldier songs, Feldpost or wartime social history.

Both show normal age, toning, corner/edge wear and handling. The mailed example has period handwriting and postal markings. Items are exactly as shown; please examine all photos carefully for condition.
