WWI German 1914 Postcard Drunk Russian Soldiers w Vodka Mobilization Jäger

Original WWI German propaganda and satire postcard from the “Kriegs-Karte der Lustigen Blätter” series, No. 4, titled:

“Russische Mobilmachung” — “Russian Mobilization.”

The colorful caricature depicts Russian soldiers during mobilization, humorously portrayed surrounded by barrels and bottles of Wodka (vodka). A Russian soldier in a bright red uniform and traditional fur hat stands prominently at the right.

Published by Verlag der Lustigen Blätter (Dr. Eysler & Co.), Berlin, with printing credited to H. S. Hermann, Berlin. The artwork is signed F. Jüttner.

The reverse is headed “Kriegs-Postkarte” and contains handwritten wartime correspondence. It also bears a military unit handstamp:

“S.B. 3. Komp. Gd. Res. Jäg. B.”

This identifies the sender with the 3rd Company, Guard Reserve Jäger Battalion, adding excellent military and Feldpost interest.

This No. 4 card dates from the early WWI period, circa 1914, and is an interesting piece of Imperial German wartime satire and propaganda.
