WWI Imperial German 1915 ENEMY FIRE French POW Military Postcard Feldpost

Original WWI German color postcard titled “Feindliches Feuer”, translating literally as “Enemy Fire.”

The scene depicts French prisoners of war, identifiable by their distinctive uniforms and red kepis, gathered inside a POW camp. In the center, one French prisoner appears to be receiving a light for his cigarette from a German soldier/guard, creating the play on words used for the title.

The reverse is postally used and dated May 13, 1915, with a strong circular Rinteln cancellation and extensive handwritten wartime correspondence.

Published by Walter Müller, Photogr. Atelier, Paderborn & Sennelager. Card number 27818 appears at lower right.

A nice original early-war POW postcard with an unusual scene, strong colorization and clear 1915 postal usage.

Condition is as shown with normal age-related corner and edge wear, surface wear and signs of postal use. Please see photos for exact condition.
