WWI Imperial German Military Wartime Postcards x 5 Prussia Eastern Front Feldpost 1914

Lot of 5 original WWI German “Ostpreußenhilfe” charity postcards depicting the Eastern Front and East Prussia during the First World War.

The backs are marked “Wohlfahrts-Postkarte” and “Ostpreußenhilfe”, issued by the Verband Deutscher Kriegshilfsvereine für zerstörte ostpreußische Städte und Ortschaften — an organization providing assistance to East Prussian towns and communities affected by the war.

The five cards depict:

• Feldpost-Sammelstelle in Kolno — German soldiers outside a military field-post collection office with large mail sacks.
• Östlicher Kriegsschauplatz – Katholische Feldmesse vor der Schlacht — “Eastern Theater of War – Catholic Field Mass Before the Battle,” showing a large gathering of German soldiers attending an outdoor military Mass.
• Markt in Ortelsburg (Ostpreussen) — busy market scene in Ortelsburg, East Prussia, with horse-drawn wagons and wartime damage visible to buildings.
• Deutsche Bagagewagen auf dem Marktplatz in Kolno — “German baggage wagons on the market square in Kolno,” showing numerous military horse-drawn wagons in a snowy town square.
• Drahtverhaue vor Borkowo von unseren Truppen besetzt — “Barbed-wire entanglements before Borkowo occupied by our troops,” showing extensive wartime defensive obstacles surrounding buildings.

The Feldpost-Sammelstelle in Kolno image is documented as an Ostpreußenhilfe issue dating to 1914, making this group an excellent representation of early WWI Eastern Front imagery.

All five cards appear unused/unposted, with their original charity printing visible on the backs.

An excellent matching group with particularly strong subjects including German soldiers, Pickelhaube helmets, Feldpost, field Mass, barbed-wire defenses, military transport, East Prussian war damage and Eastern Front locations.

Condition is as shown with age-related toning and light edge/corner wear. One card has a more noticeable corner bend/crease. Please examine all photographs for exact condition.
