WWI Imperial German Military Soldier Humor Comic Beer Postcard 1916

Original WWI-era German humorous military postcard titled “Der Schwerenöter.”

The colorful illustration shows a uniformed German soldier enjoying a meal and beer while seated at a table with two women. Several beer bottles are prominently pictured, giving the card a great period tavern and soldier-life theme.

The reverse identifies it as:

“Heilemann-Karte der Lustigen Blätter (Serie VI Nr. 3)”

Published by Verlag der Lustigen Blätter (Dr. Eysler & Co.), Berlin SW 68.

The card is heavily handwritten on the reverse and appears dated 1916, placing it during World War I. The front also retains an old stamp or label affixed near the lower left.

An attractive and unusual piece of Imperial German wartime social history combining military, beer, tavern and humorous postcard collecting themes.

Shows normal age-related toning, corner and edge wear, surface wear and extensive period handwriting on the reverse. Please examine photos carefully for condition.
