WWII Nazi German Stuttgart Reichsbahn Train Railway Station Restaurant 1941 Postcard

Original WWII-era German postcard showing the interior of the Hauptbahnhofwirtschaft I. und II. Klasse, Stuttgart — the First and Second Class railway station restaurant at Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof.

The front provides an excellent period interior view of the station dining room, with neatly set tables, chairs, hanging lights and a large landscape mural on the far wall. An interesting piece of German railway and social history from the wartime period.

The reverse is printed:

“Hauptbahnhofwirtschaft I. und II. Klasse Stuttgart”

Translation: “Stuttgart Main Railway Station Restaurant – First and Second Class.”

The card was mailed during WWII and bears a green 6 Pfennig Deutsches Reich Hindenburg postage stamp with a Limburg cancellation. It is addressed to Herrn Xaver Güler, at Daimler-Werke Brückenbau, near Sindelfingen.

Publisher information reads Kunstdruck Deyhle G.m.b.H., Stuttgart, card No. 4472.
