WWI Imperial German Soldiers Foot Artillery Military Feldpost Postcard w Cannon

Original WWI-era German military Feldpost postcard featuring an attractive color scene of German Fußartillerie (Foot Artillery).

The front is titled:

“Fußartillerie.”
Translation: “Foot Artillery.”

The scene shows an Imperial German artillery formation with mounted soldiers, horse teams, artillery pieces/cannons and troops assembled in formation. Despite the traditional name “Foot Artillery,” these heavy artillery units relied heavily on horses and transport teams to move their guns and equipment.

The reverse contains an extensive handwritten message in old German script and military postal markings. The handwritten date at the upper left appears to be 2.9.11, suggesting this card may have been written in 1911, before WWI, rather than during the war. The blue circled “S” marking and large postal cancellation add further postal-history interest.

A nice original Imperial German military postcard with particularly desirable artillery, cannon and horse-drawn military imagery.

Condition shows age and postal wear, including corner and edge wear, toning, surface marks and some rubbing/printing loss in the sky area. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition. Item shown is the exact item you will receive.
