WW2 WWII Era Nazi German Hederich Kainit Fertilizer Advertising Postcard Agriculture

Original WW2 Era German advertising postcard promoting Hederich-Kainit, an agricultural fertilizer and weed-control product marketed to German farmers.

This colorful illustrated postcard features a large hand scattering white mineral fertilizer over a growing field of green crops, with the bold German advertising slogan “HEDERICH-KAINIT zur Hederich-Vernichtung” prominently displayed against a black background.

An interesting example of early German agricultural advertising, featuring striking commercial artwork, bold lettering, and a traditional German promotional poem.

Original German Text and English Translation:

“HEDERICH-KAINIT zur Hederich-Vernichtung”

Translation: “Hederich-Kainit for the Destruction of Wild Radish.”

Hederich refers to wild radish, a troublesome agricultural weed, while Kainit is a naturally occurring potassium-bearing mineral salt historically used as fertilizer.

Printed German Poem:

“Streu Hederich-Kainit am Morgen,

Wenn die Felder taunass sind!

Und die Sonne wird besorgen,

Daß das Unkraut stirbt geschwind!”

English Translation:

“Spread Hederich-Kainit in the morning,

When the fields are wet with dew!

And the sun will take care of it,

So that the weeds quickly die!”
