Offered here is an original German Hindenburg Honor Cross with Swords (Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer), the combatant version of the well-known WWI service decoration instituted in 1934. This example is especially desirable due to the scarcer “B.H.L.” maker marking clearly stamped on the reverse, accompanied by its correct-style black, white, and red ribbon and an attractive vintage reproduction presentation case.

The medal features the distinctive cross form with a central laurel wreath surrounding the dates “1914–1918,” together with crossed swords, identifying it as the version intended for WWI front-line combat veterans. The reverse bears the clearly visible “B.H.L.” maker mark with an additional “L.” beneath.

The medal itself is guaranteed original period manufacture and displays an attractive aged finish and patina consistent with its age. Fine details remain strong, including the wreath, crossed swords, dates, borders, and reverse maker stamp. The included full-length ribbon displays the traditional black, white, and red coloring and complements the medal nicely.

Also included is the striking red velvet-covered presentation case shown in the photographs. The white satin-style lid lining bears the inscription “Treue um Treue” (“Loyalty for Loyalty”) with a facsimile Hindenburg signature beneath. The fitted interior is shaped to accommodate the medal and makes for an excellent display.

Please note: The medal is an original period Hindenburg Honor Cross, while the red presentation box is a vintage reproduction and is not represented as the medal’s original issue case. The ribbon is included as shown.

The Hindenburg Cross was instituted on July 13, 1934, in three principal versions. The example offered here is the Honor Cross for Front Fighters, distinguished by its crossed swords and awarded to qualifying German veterans who had served at the front during World War I. As one of the principal decorations recognizing German WWI military service, it remains an essential piece for any collection covering the transition from Imperial Germany through the interwar period.

A particularly appealing example due to the rare B.H.L. maker-marked reverse, complete ribbon, and impressive vintage display case. An excellent addition to a WWI German medal collection, Imperial German militaria display, Hindenburg Cross maker collection, veteran award collection, or historical military display.

Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition, markings, patina, ribbon, and case details. You will receive the exact medal, ribbon, and vintage reproduction case shown.
