Original group of 12 German postal covers/cards from the same Grots family correspondence, primarily addressed to members of the Grots family in Klein Liedern near Uelzen. This is a particularly interesting intact family group spanning the Third Reich WWII period into the immediate postwar years.

Many of the wartime covers retain original Adolf Hitler definitive postage stamps, including 6 Pf and 12 Pf issues with clear period cancellations. Several are addressed to Heinrich Grots and other Grots family members at Klein Liedern / Ziegelei Klein Liedern, Post Uelzen. Klein Liedern is a documented locality just east of Uelzen, and historical sources confirm that a brickworks operated there.

The group includes a variety of wartime and postwar postal history, with visible dates ranging from approximately 1942 through the early 1950s. Highlights include wartime Hitler-stamp covers, an AM POST occupation-era cover, Hesterberg/Sulingen correspondence, and other family mail.

Especially noteworthy is the large official cover from the Deutsche Dienststelle für die Benachrichtigung der nächsten Angehörigen von Gefallenen der ehemaligen deutschen Wehrmacht – Berlin-Wittenau, addressed to Herrn Heinrich Grots, Klein-Liedern Nr. 10, Kr. Uelzen. The Deutsche Dienststelle, commonly known as the WASt, maintained records concerning former German Wehrmacht personnel, casualties and next-of-kin matters. Its functions were eventually transferred to the German Federal Archives.

Several covers retain handwritten sender information on the reverse, potentially allowing further research into individual family members and their wartime/postwar circumstances.

The lot is being kept together as found because the shared Grots family provenance makes the group much more historically interesting than the individual envelopes alone.

Condition: Mixed original used condition with age toning, staining, folds, creases, opened/torn edges, corner wear and other normal postal handling. Some covers are considerably more worn than others. Stamps and cancellations generally remain quite presentable. Please examine all photos carefully for exact condition.
