Original December 1929 German political and agricultural meeting announcement printed on bright red/pink paper. This is an interesting Weimar Republic-era Landvolk movement piece concerning the economic crisis facing German farmers and opposition to Germany’s post-WWI reparations obligations.

The heading “Aufklärungs-Versammlung” translates approximately as “Informational / Educational Meeting.” The notice announces a lecture by Landwirt Schulze-Gabrechten (farmer Schulze-Gabrechten). A location has been handwritten into the form and appears to read “Do. Syburg.”

The principal lecture topic reads:

“Das deutsche Landvolk u. der Volksentscheid gegen Kriegsschuldlüge und Youngplan.”

Translation: “The German rural people and the referendum against the war-guilt lie and the Young Plan.”

This refers directly to the major 1929 German referendum campaign against the Young Plan, which sought to revise Germany’s World War I reparations schedule. The referendum was held on 22 December 1929 and ultimately failed because it did not receive the constitutionally required support.

The lower portion states, approximately: “In view of the importance of these questions for the struggle to preserve the German rural population, it is the duty of everyone to attend this meeting!”

The Landvolkbewegung (Rural People’s Movement) emerged during the severe agricultural crisis of the late 1920s, particularly among farmers in northern Germany. This poster therefore combines several highly collectible areas of Weimar history: the German agricultural protest movement, the 1929 Young Plan controversy, WWI reparations politics and the economic turmoil immediately preceding the rise of the Third Reich.

Printer identification appears along the bottom: “Buchdruckerei Carl Kropp, Soest.”

The poster remains in very nice original condition for its age, retaining strong color and crisp black printing. There is a prominent original horizontal fold across the center along with lighter handling and age wear as shown. The handwritten period notation adds further character to the piece.

A very attractive and historically significant 1929 Weimar Republic political broadside, particularly desirable for its explicit references to the Landvolk, Young Plan and Kriegsschuldlüge campaign.

Guaranteed original period item. Item is exactly as shown. We combine shipping and ship every day, including Saturdays.
