Original period German picture postcard featuring the historic Albrecht Dürer House in Nürnberg (Nuremberg), the former residence of German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer.

The front is captioned:

“Nürnberg, Albrecht Dürerhaus (Wohnhaus des Künstlers)”
Translation: “Nuremberg, Albrecht Dürer House (residence of the artist).”

The reverse is particularly interesting from a postal-history standpoint. It bears a 6 Pfennig Deutsches Reich Hindenburg definitive stamp, tied by a Nürnberg postmark dated 13 November. Alongside it is an illustrated Nürnberg propaganda/slogan cancellation incorporating the city skyline and the wording:

“Stadt der Reichsparteitage Nürnberg”
Translation: “Nuremberg – City of the Reich Party Rallies.”

The postcard was addressed to:

Gretl Sixt
Fürth i/B. (Fürth in Bavaria)
Adolf-Hitler-Str. No. 22

The period street address is clearly handwritten and provides an interesting piece of Third Reich-era local and social history. Many German streets were renamed during the NS period and subsequently changed again after 1945.

Handwritten Message

The handwritten German message appears to begin:

“Liebe Gretl!” — “Dear Gretl!”

The writer thanks Gretl warmly for a beautiful item/gift, apologizes for not writing immediately, mentions liking the new home very much, and asks whether it might be possible for Gretl to visit sometime. The message closes with affectionate greetings and appears to be signed Lise. Some individual words are difficult to decipher because of the cursive handwriting.

This is a particularly attractive postal-history piece combining an Albrecht Dürer/Nürnberg architectural view, Hindenburg postage, Nürnberg Reich Party Rally slogan cancellation, period correspondence, and an Adolf-Hitler-Straße destination address in Fürth.

Condition is as shown, with normal age, handling, writing, postal wear and light toning consistent with an original mailed postcard. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition.

Guaranteed original period postcard and postal usage. Item shown is the exact item received.
