Original 1933 German furniture order form (Bestellschein) from Dortmund featuring an especially prominent emblem of the Vereinigung National-Christlicher Möbelhändler e.V. (VNCM) — the Association of National-Christian Furniture Dealers. The organization’s printed insignia incorporates a large swastika above a tree stump marked “Deutsche Wert-Möbel”, making this an interesting piece of early Third Reich commercial and economic history.
The document is dated September 1933 in Dortmund, only months after the National Socialists came to power. The heading “Bestellschein” translates as “Order Form.” It is filled out extensively by hand for a customer whose name appears to be Josef Wojchszak/Wojchszank (spelling difficult to determine from the handwriting).
The order records multiple pieces of household furniture. Although portions of the handwritten German are difficult to decipher with certainty, the entries clearly concern furniture and furnishings, with individual amounts including approximately 355 RM and 168 RM. The total purchase price is written as approximately RM 530. The form also contains printed provisions concerning payment, ownership of the goods until full payment, discounts and installment payments.
An interesting printed line states:
“Eine Reichsmark bewertet sich nach 1/2790 kg Feingold.”
Translation: “One Reichsmark is valued according to 1/2790 kilogram of fine gold.”
The reverse contains the complete printed “Bedingungen” (Terms and Conditions) governing the purchase. These provisions discuss acceptance of the order, warranties, complaints, payment ability, contractual disputes and arbitration. Particularly noteworthy is the repeated reference to the “Vereinigung national-christlicher Möbelhändler” and its role in selecting arbitrators for disputes. The final line identifies Landgericht Dortmund as the competent state court.
This is an unusual piece of early Third Reich civilian commercial ephemera, rather than a military document. The combination of the 1933 date, Dortmund origin, VNCM organization, Deutsche Wert-Möbel emblem, large swastika insignia, handwritten furniture order and complete contractual terms on the reverse gives it excellent display and research interest.
Condition is original used condition with prominent period folds, wrinkles/creasing, edge and corner wear, small edge losses/nicks, toning and general handling consistent with age. The printed emblem remains particularly bold and clear. Please examine all photographs for exact condition.
