1933 Nazi German Third Reich München Braunes Haus Brown House Photo NSDAP Headquarters Postcard w Swastika Flag

Original period Third Reich German postcard showing the Braunes Haus (Brown House) in Munich, the national headquarters of the NSDAP and one of the most historically significant political buildings associated with the Third Reich.

The front is boldly captioned:

“MÜNCHEN – BRAUNES HAUS”
Translation: “Munich – Brown House”

A large swastika flag is prominently displayed above the building. Several period automobiles and a motorcycle can also be seen parked along the street, making this an excellent architectural and street-scene view of Munich during the Third Reich era.

The Braunes Haus was located on Brienner Straße in Munich. Originally known as the Palais Barlow, the property was acquired by the NSDAP in 1930 and converted into its national headquarters. It contained offices used by the party leadership and became one of the central administrative buildings of the movement. Message Translation

The handwriting is somewhat difficult, but the message appears to begin:

“Liebe Lilli!” — “Dear Lilli!”

It then sends greetings from Munich; portions appear to mention greetings from the sender and another person. Because of the old German cursive and overlapping postal markings, I would not claim a complete word-for-word translation from the photograph alone.

Condition

Good original circulated condition with expected age toning, corner/edge wear and postal handling. There is also a small blue mark/stain along the lower front margin, clearly visible in the photographs. Stamp remains attached and the postal cancellation is strong.
