1937 Nazi German Mussolini Hitler State Visit Munich Special Cancel Third Reich Postcard

Original 1937 German commemorative postcard associated with the state visit of Italian leader Benito Mussolini to Germany, featuring an outstanding Munich special-event cancellation.

The left side carries a period photographic image showing Adolf Hitler inspecting a formation of flag bearers, with numerous standards prominently displayed.

The card is franked with a 6 Pfennig Adolf Hitler definitive stamp and bears a large, highly decorative special cancellation reading:

“München 1 – Staatsbesuch Mussolini-Hitler – 25.–28.9.1937”

Translation:

“Munich 1 – State Visit Mussolini-Hitler – September 25–28, 1937.”

The cancel incorporates a fasces and swastika symbols and commemorates Mussolini’s highly publicized September 1937 state visit to Germany. The combination of the photographic propaganda image, Hitler stamp and event-specific Munich cancellation makes this a particularly displayable example of prewar Third Reich postal history.
