This is the 12 + 38 Reichspfennig issue, Michel #664, officially released on April 13, 1938, one week before Hitler’s 49th birthday on April 20. The stamp was designed by Richard Klein, printed by intaglio/recess printing, and issued perforation 14 on unwatermarked paper.

The stamp features a right-facing portrait surrounded by a simple rectangular frame with “Deutsches Reich” along the bottom. Its attractive dark carmine-red coloration makes this a particularly distinctive prewar German issue.
