1942 Nazi German Third Reich NSDAP Gau Wartheland Litzmannstadt Exhibition Postcard

Original WWII German Gau Wartheland philatelic exhibition card produced for the 1. Postwertzeichenschau held in Litzmannstadt from 13–16 June 1942.

The card features a striking brown printed illustration of the industrial cityscape of Litzmannstadt, with numerous factory buildings and smokestacks. Around the design is the wording:

“Gau Wartheland · Kameradschaft der Briefmarkenfreunde Litzmannstadt”
Translation: “Gau Wartheland – Fellowship of the Stamp Collectors of Litzmannstadt.”

The bottom reads:

“1. Postwertzeichenschau – 13.–16. Juni 1942 – Litzmannstadt”
Translation: “1st Postage Stamp Exhibition – June 13–16, 1942 – Litzmannstadt.”

A 1 Krone Böhmen und Mähren / Čechy a Morava stamp is affixed at the upper left as part of the philatelic presentation. The card also prominently displays period swastika emblems and a shield device.

Litzmannstadt was the German wartime name for Łódź, Poland, making this a particularly interesting piece relating to German occupation-era postal history, Gau Wartheland, and wartime philately.
