Excellent original 1942 WWII German Heer soldier art enhanced photographic postcard, showing a young enlisted soldier posed in full uniform.

This is a particularly sharp studio portrait with excellent uniform and insignia detail. The soldier wears a Heer field tunic with breast eagle, collar insignia, shoulder boards and enlisted rank chevron on the upper sleeve. His belt and buckle are clearly visible, and he holds his visor-style service cap at his side, providing another excellent uniform detail for the military collector.

The reverse is especially desirable because it is fully photographer-marked and dated 1942.

Reverse Marking:

“Kunstfotograf Hans Adlmannseder, Ried (Innkreis) OD.
neben NS.-Gauverlag 1942”

Translation:

“Art Photographer Hans Adlmannseder, Ried (Innkreis), Upper Danube
next to the NS Gau Publishing House, 1942.”

The location is Ried im Innkreis, Austria. During the Third Reich period the region was incorporated into the Reichsgau Oberdonau (Upper Danube), explaining the abbreviated “OD.” appearing in the photographer’s imprint.

The reverse also has a printed “Echte Photographie” marking, translating to “Genuine Photograph,” identifying it as a real photographic postcard rather than an ordinary printed postcard.

The 1943 photographer imprint makes this particularly useful as a firmly period-dated wartime portrait rather than an unidentified military photograph.

Visible Details:

  • Original WWII-era German military portrait
  • Heer enlisted soldier
  • Field tunic
  • Heer breast eagle
  • Collar tabs
  • Shoulder boards
  • Enlisted rank chevron
  • Belt and buckle
  • Soldier holding service cap
  • Professional studio portrait
  • Echte Photographie real-photo marking
  • Photographer: Hans Adlmannseder
  • Ried im Innkreis, Austria
  • Explicitly dated 1942
  • Unused postcard reverse
  • Period photographic postcard number C6298

The Ried im Innkreis location is well documented as an Upper Austrian regional center, making the photographer’s wartime Ried imprint an interesting additional piece of provenance.

Condition:
Very nice original condition with expected light age and handling wear. Image remains strong with very good contrast and sharp uniform detail. Reverse shows some light age toning/marks. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition.

A great original, dated 1942 German Heer studio portrait with unusually clear photographer identification and Austrian wartime provenance.
