Offered here is an original WWII-era German Ersatzkarte für Arbeitsbuch, or replacement card for a labor/work book, issued in 1944 through the Arbeitsamt (Labor Office) in Rocklinghausen.

This is an excellent example of the civilian labor-control paperwork used in wartime Germany. The document was issued as a temporary replacement for an Arbeitsbuch, the official employment record used to document and regulate a worker’s employment.
