Original lot of 2 WWII-era German Feldpost song postcards, both mailed in 1941 to the same recipient, Walter Bergmann, Feldpost Nr. 10132.
These are attractive wartime musical postcards published by Spezial-Verlag Robert Franke, Hamburg 36, combining period photographs with the printed lyrics of popular German songs.
Postcard #1 – “Alle Tage ist kein Sonntag”
Features a photograph of a German soldier walking with local women through a vineyard/wine-growing region. The title translates approximately as “Not Every Day Is Sunday.” The card credits Carl Clewing for the melody and Carl Ferdinands for the words.
The reverse contains a handwritten message and is addressed to Walter Bergmann, Feldpost Nr. 10132. It bears a Mülheim cancellation dated 31.8.41.
Postcard #2 – “Schwarzbraun ist die Haselnuß”
Features a portrait of a smiling young woman in traditional-style clothing. The title translates as “Dark Brown Is the Hazelnut.” This was a traditional German folk and marching song that became especially associated with German soldiers.
The reverse is again addressed to Walter Bergmann, Feldpost Nr. 10132 and carries a Gotenhafen cancellation dated 06.11.41.
An especially interesting matching pair because both cards were sent during 1941 to the same Feldpost recipient, providing a direct connection to the German military postal system during WWII.
Both cards retain their original handwritten correspondence, postal cancellations and period markings.
Condition:
Original period postcards showing normal age, handling wear, toning, edge/corner wear and writing as shown. Please examine all photos carefully for exact condition.
Included: Both original postcards shown.
Great material for a collection of WWII German Feldpost, Wehrmacht postal history, German military correspondence, wartime music, folk songs, Gotenhafen, Mülheim or German home-front ephemera.
