Excellent original German family correspondence grouping connected to the same Fischer family as the previous archive, with material spanning World War I and World War II. Groups like this are particularly interesting because they preserve a family’s correspondence across two different periods of German military history rather than representing an isolated Feldpost letter.

The WWII portion includes an original Feldpost cover addressed to Frau Hildegard Fischer, Gera, Eupener Weg 8. The cover carries an Erfurt cancellation dated 24.2.41 and a prominent violet military unit/official handstamp.

Especially interesting is the sender information visible on the reverse of another cover:

“… V.J. Fischer, Erfurt, Ersatz Verpfleg. Magazin”

This refers to an Ersatz-Verpflegungs-Magazin, essentially a replacement/supply provisions depot or magazine, giving the correspondence a useful military logistical connection.

Another envelope bears handwritten military information for Fischer, including what appears to read “I.R. 334” together with additional abbreviated unit information. This deserves further research and may help identify the individual’s regiment and wartime service.

The grouping contains several substantial handwritten German letters, including a large multi-page letter dated Sunday, 23 February 1941, as well as additional correspondence. One separate earlier letter/envelope is dated 5.1.18, providing the World War I-era connection within the family group.

Taken together with the other Fischer correspondence, this is a fascinating little family archive documenting correspondence over two world wars, with names, addresses, dates, military notations, postal markings and lengthy handwritten contents that offer considerable potential for further translation and genealogical research.

The lot includes the pieces shown in the photographs along with the modern illustrated “Feldpost – German Military Mail: A Lifeline From the Front” informational/display sheet.

Condition is exactly as photographed. The original documents exhibit expected age and service wear including folds, toning, edge wear, tears and envelope opening damage. These characteristics are consistent with genuine period correspondence that was actually mailed, handled and retained.

A very appealing original Fischer family military postal-history archive and an excellent companion grouping to the other Fischer WWI/WWII correspondence.

Historical material offered for collecting, preservation, research and educational purposes.
