1 in stock

Original Third Reich NSDAP Kreisleitung document from Wels, Austria, dated November 26, 1943, with an especially interesting connection between the local Party leadership and the Freiwillige Feuerwehr (Volunteer Fire Brigade).
The document bears the printed letterhead:
“Der Kreisleiter – Kreis Wels”
“The District Leader – Wels District”
Above the heading is a prominent NSDAP Party eagle and swastika.
The front is addressed to:
“An den Bezirksführer der freiwilligen Feuerwehr Pg. Bergthaller, Wels, Adolf Hitler-Platz.”
Translation:
“To the District Leader of the Volunteer Fire Brigade, Party Member Bergthaller, Wels, Adolf-Hitler-Platz.”
The use of “Pg.” is an abbreviation for Parteigenosse, meaning Party member/comrade, making this an interesting example of official correspondence involving the NSDAP Kreisleitung and local fire-service administration.
Interior Letter
The enclosed typed communication is addressed to:
Herrn Rudolf Silmbroth, Vöcklamarkt
and dated:
Wels, 26 November 1943
The letter concerns a financial/accounting matter involving an apparently incorrectly transferred amount and freight charges. The writer explains that the amount was charged to the recipient’s account, that the check was issued to avoid unnecessary expenses, requests a corresponding correction, and comments that such small matters create unnecessary work during the current personnel shortage.
The final paragraph approximately translates:
“Such minor matters cause unnecessary work, which should be avoided given the present shortage of personnel.”
The letter concludes with the period political salutation:
“Heil Hitler!”
An additional receiving/date stamp at the bottom reads:
“4. JAN. 1945”
There are also period accounting/administrative markings, including a large handwritten red “143” and another circular/partial ink marking.
Historical Interest
This is more than a generic piece of wartime correspondence. It combines several desirable areas of Third Reich collecting:
- Official NSDAP Kreisleiter / Kreis Wels stationery
- Large printed Party eagle and swastika
- 1943 wartime correspondence
- Addressed to the Bezirksführer der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr
- Named Party member Bergthaller
- Historic Adolf-Hitler-Platz, Wels address
- Separate typed communication to Rudolf Silmbroth of Vöcklamarkt
- Wartime reference to a personnel shortage
- Period “Heil Hitler!” closing
- January 4, 1945 administrative receiving stamp
- Original period accounting and office markings
- Strong Austrian / Wels regional provenance
This would make an excellent addition to a collection focused on NSDAP administration, Kreisleitung material, Austrian Third Reich history, wartime fire services, Wels history, or original political documents and ephemera.
Condition:
Original period-used condition with substantial age toning/foxing, staining, folds, handling wear, small holes/tears and other storage wear. The document has clearly seen considerable administrative use. Despite the condition, the Kreisleiter heading, eagle/swastika emblem, addresses and much of the typed correspondence remain clearly visible. Please study all photographs carefully for exact condition.
