Imperial German 1913 Postcard Prussian Troops in Combat Battle 1813 Kriegerbund

Original Imperial German military-history postcard depicting “Die Pommern bei Großbeeren” — “The Pomeranians at Großbeeren.”

The dramatic color artwork depicts Prussian troops in close combat during the Battle of Großbeeren, with infantry advancing with fixed bayonets, mounted officers and fallen soldiers across the battlefield.

The Battle of Großbeeren was fought in August 1813 during the Napoleonic Wars and formed part of the German Wars of Liberation. The scene commemorates the participation of Pomeranian troops in the fighting.

The reverse is printed “Deutscher Kriegerbund” and “Zum Besten der Kriegerwaisenhäuser,” indicating the card was issued for the benefit of war-orphan homes.

The postcard is postally used with an original 5 Pfennig Deutsches Reich Germania stamp, period cancellation and handwritten correspondence.

An attractive pre-WWI German military postcard with excellent battlefield artwork and strong appeal for collectors of Napoleonic Wars, Prussian military history and Imperial German patriotic postcards.

Condition is as shown with age-related corner and edge wear, handling marks and postal wear. Please see photographs for exact condition.
