Original NSDAP Gau Magdeburg-Anhalt Membership Report Form (Anlage 8a) – Two-Sided Document
Title: Original NSDAP Gau Magdeburg-Anhalt “Mitgliederstand” Membership Report Form, Anlage 8a, Two-Sided Administrative Document
Description:
Offered here is an original two-sided NSDAP administrative form titled “Mitgliederstand” (Membership Status) from Gau Magdeburg-Anhalt, designated Anlage 8a. This unused period document was intended for local Party organizations to record monthly membership statistics, including new admissions, transfers, resignations, deaths, and members serving in the Wehrmacht.
The form contains numerous fields for:
Kreis (District)
Ortsgruppe (Local Group)
Monthly membership totals
New admissions and reentries
Members entering or leaving military service
Transfers between Ortsgruppen
Deaths and resignations
Financial contribution information
These administrative forms were part of the extensive bureaucracy of the NSDAP and provide an interesting glimpse into how Party membership records and statistics were maintained on the local level. The reverse side contains a typed list of German medical and bandage supply companies (Verbandstoffhandlungen), including several firms that still exist today.
The back was used to write a list of NSDAP Nazi Party business suppliers.
Interesting Names on the Reverse Include:
Beiersdorf & Co., Hamburg – Manufacturer of the famous Nivea-Creme and Leukoplast products, still one of Germany’s largest skincare companies today.
Various medical suppliers from:
Chemnitz
Leipzig
Hamburg
Halle/Saale
Kassel
Bonn am Rhein
The mention of Nivea-Creme makes this document particularly interesting, as it links an ordinary Party-era administrative paper with one of Germany’s best-known surviving consumer brands.
Historical Background
The Gau Magdeburg-Anhalt was one of the regional administrative divisions of the NSDAP and existed from 1926 until the end of the Second World War. Its capital was located in Dessau and it covered the Free State of Anhalt and portions of the Prussian Province of Saxony. Like all Gau administrations, it maintained detailed membership records and extensive paperwork relating to Party organization and finances.
The NSDAP maintained millions of membership records and administrative forms through an elaborate bureaucracy overseen by the Party Treasury and Membership Offices, with local groups required to submit periodic reports on membership strength and status changes.
