Original period Third Reich postcard showing the Luitpoldarena (Luitpold Arena) in Nürnberg / Nuremberg, one of the principal ceremonial locations incorporated into the Nazi Party Rally Grounds.

The front is captioned:

“Nürnberg – Luitpoldarena”

The photograph provides an excellent view across the arena toward the monumental Ehrenhalle (Hall of Honor) area. Large Third Reich swastika banners dominate the center of the scene, while monumental German eagles are positioned at either side. The sweeping stone terraces and ceremonial architecture of the Luitpoldarena are clearly visible.

The Luitpoldarena became an important setting for the annual Reichsparteitag (Reich Party Rally) ceremonies in Nuremberg. The grounds were used for enormous formations and commemorative ceremonies involving the SA, SS and other Nazi Party organizations. This makes the postcard an interesting original photographic record of one of the best-known locations associated with the Nuremberg rallies.

Unlike many surviving unused souvenir cards, this example was actually mailed during the Third Reich period. The reverse carries a green 6 Pfennig Deutsches Reich Hindenburg postage stamp, period handwritten correspondence and a circular postal cancellation.

Publisher information printed on the reverse reads:

“Verlag Photo-Harren, Nürnberg-A.”

The postcard is numbered 0905.

Handwritten Message

The handwritten message appears to read approximately:

“Viele herzliche Grüße und der schönen Stadt Nürnberg von Franz …”

Translation:

“Many heartfelt greetings from the beautiful city of Nuremberg, from Franz …”

Some portions of the handwriting are difficult to decipher with certainty, so the translation is intentionally conservative rather than filling in unclear words.

The card remains in attractive collectible condition with normal age-related handling, light corner/edge wear and postal wear. The stamp remains attached and the handwritten message and cancellation provide additional period character. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition.
