Original Nazi German 1934 Reichsparteitag Nürnberg Propaganda Postcard w Swastika Flags Banners Mailed to USA – 3 Stamps

Offered here is an impressive original 1934 German Reichsparteitag Nürnberg postcard, genuinely period mailed from Germany to the United States and featuring three 1934 Nuremberg Party Rally stamps with matching Nürnberg special-event cancellations. What’s interesting is I recently imported this card from Germany, so it was sent to from Germany to the US during the Third reich period, returned back to Germany only to come back to the USA 80 years later, again!

The illustrated front is captioned:

“Reichsparteitag Nürnberg 1934”
Translation: “Reich Party Rally Nuremberg 1934.”

The dramatic artwork depicts a helmeted SA/Party rally participant, large swastika emblem, banners, monumental architecture and a German eagle carrying a swastika wreath. It is a particularly striking example of period political propaganda artwork associated with the 1934 Nuremberg Rally.

Excellent Postal History

What makes this example especially desirable is the original franking. The card bears three Reichsparteitag Nürnberg 1934 stamps:

• 6 Pfennig green
• 12 Pfennig red
• 6 Pfennig black/brown imprinted postal stationery indicium

The stamps depict Nuremberg Castle with a large swastika in the background and are inscribed “Deutsches Reich – Reichsparteitag 1934 Nürnberg.”

The stamps received bold Nürnberg special-event cancellations incorporating “NSDAP,” a swastika and Nürnberg. The postmarks appear dated September 7, 1934, placing the card directly within the period of the 1934 Nuremberg Rally.

Even better, the postcard was internationally mailed to Quincy, Illinois, USA, addressed to Mr. John T. Maas, 600 Maine Street, Quincy, Illinois. Dear Mr. Maas! Many thanks for the nice “Party” stamps! Today you will receive from me another rarity, this official postcard with a comparatively small issue from the Reich Party Rally Nuremberg 1934, without the two special stamps on it; also postmarked in Nuremberg, 400 km from Dresden. Until my next letter, which will contain my “pair” stamps. Many cordial greetings, your Erich Schlechte.

The wording is particularly interesting because the sender specifically discusses the card as a philatelic rarity, its relatively small issue, the Nuremberg Rally and the special stamps. This gives the piece excellent collector provenance and shows it was intentionally prepared for a stamp collector in 1934.

The postcard shows expected age and postal handling wear, including corner/edge wear, toning and some staining/creasing, particularly near the upper and lower right corners. These characteristics are visible in the photographs and are consistent with an approximately 92-year-old internationally mailed card.
