Original Nazi German Third Reich 1938 SA Stormtroopers Propaganda Postcard Berlin

Offered here is an original 1938 German SA Reichswettkämpfe commemorative postcard produced for the Reichswettkämpfe held in Berlin, July 15–17, 1938.

This is an especially attractive period propaganda/postal-history piece combining the event artwork with an imprinted 6 Pfennig Deutsches Reich postal indicium, making it a complete unused postal stationery card rather than an ordinary picture postcard.

The illustrated side is dominated by the large letters “SA” above a dramatic composition featuring a vertical sword, swastika, hammer, oak-leaf wreath and radiating map of Germany. Below is the event inscription:

“Reichswettkämpfe – Berlin, 15.–17. Juli 1938”
Translation: “Reich Competitions – Berlin, July 15–17, 1938.”

The artwork is signed at lower left “Axster-Heudtlass”, the well-known German graphic-design partnership of Werner von Axster-Heudtlass and Maria von Axster-Heudtlass, whose work appeared extensively on period German posters, postcards and other printed material.

The postal side is headed “Postkarte” and has the original 6 Pfennig Deutsches Reich imprinted stamp, depicting an SA man in uniform and cap. Along the dividing line is the original printed price:

“Ausgabepreis 15 Rpf.”
Translation: “Issue price 15 Reichspfennig.”

The card is unused and unmailed, with no handwriting, address, postmark or cancellation. The reverse is completely blank.

A particularly strong display piece because the original event artwork, SA imagery, swastika, sword, dated Berlin inscription and matching imprinted postage are all together on one period card.
