Original Third Reich-era Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF – German Labour Front) membership application form titled “Aufnahme-Erklärung.” This is an unused example with the personal-information fields left blank.
The top features the distinctive DAF cogwheel and swastika emblem beside “Die Deutsche Arbeitsfront.” At upper right are spaces for the administrative Gauverwaltung, responsible office, and local group.
The prominent heading reads:
“Aufnahme-Erklärung – Hiermit ersuche ich um meine Aufnahme in die Deutsche Arbeitsfront.”
Translation:
“Application for Admission – I hereby request my admission into the German Labour Front.”
The printed declaration states that the applicant understands that the German Labour Front was an organization founded by Adolf Hitler and intended to organize and ideologically educate those active in the German economy according to National Socialist principles. Particularly interesting is the applicant’s required declaration:
“Ich bin rein arischer Abstammung und gehöre keiner Freimaurer-Loge an.”
Translation:
“I am of purely Aryan descent and belong to no Masonic lodge.”
It also requires the applicant to pledge that their thoughts and actions would follow National Socialist principles and the concept “Gemeinnutz geht vor Eigennutz” — approximately “The common good comes before self-interest.”
The form also contains a special paragraph concerning the admission of Germans living abroad, referencing the DAF’s Abteilung “Ausland” in Berlin.
Application Information Fields
The lower portion contains spaces for the applicant’s:
- Surname and first name
- Maiden name for women
- Marital status
- Number and ages of children under 18
- Date and place of birth
- Residence, street and district
- Trained profession and current occupation
- Employer and employer’s address
- Salary/wage status
- Previous DAF membership
- Previous NSDAP membership
- Membership in another NS organization
- Place and date
- Applicant’s signature
This is a very interesting piece of original organizational paperwork illustrating the membership requirements, racial policy, employment information, and political screening incorporated into the German Labour Front bureaucracy.
Historical Background
The Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) was established in 1933 following the dissolution of Germany’s independent trade unions. It became the principal labor organization of the Third Reich and grew into one of the regime’s largest mass organizations.
Because this example remains completely unused and unfilled, all of the original printed wording and application fields can be clearly studied and displayed.
Condition
Overall exceptional condition with light age toning and crisp clean condition. The form remains clean and crisp with strong dark printing, sharp DAF emblem and clearly readable text. Unused with no names, handwriting, stamps or completed fields. Please examine all photographs for exact condition.
