Original WW2 Nazi German 1938 Tag der Deutschen Kunst Munich Third Reich Postcard Special Cancel

Original 1938 Third Reich “Tag der Deutschen Kunst” (Day of German Art) commemorative postcard from Munich, postally used during the event and featuring an excellent matching special cancellation.

The front has a striking dark brown design depicting a stylized classical female head above a German eagle and swastika emblem, flanked by the date 1938. Below appears:

“TAG DER DEUTSCHEN KUNST”
Translation: “Day of German Art”

The Tag der Deutschen Kunst was a major cultural and propaganda event held in Munich during the Third Reich period, associated with the regime’s officially promoted German art and the city’s role as a center of National Socialist cultural activity.

The reverse is particularly desirable for postal-history collectors. It bears a green 6 Pfennig Hindenburg Deutsches Reich stamp tied by a large and very clear commemorative cancellation reading:

“TAG DER DEUTSCHEN KUNST – MÜNCHEN – 10.7.1938”

The center of the special cancel repeats the distinctive female-head and eagle/swastika imagery used for the event. The July 10, 1938 cancellation makes this an event-period postal usage rather than simply an unused souvenir card.

The postcard was mailed to an address in München (Munich) and retains its original handwritten message and addressing.

Reverse/message:
The handwritten message appears to be a brief personal greeting, beginning “Herzliche Grüße …”, meaning “Heartfelt/cordial greetings …” The remainder is primarily signatures and addressing rather than an extensive written message.
