Original WW2 Nazi German 1942 Third Reich Quittungskarte Insurance Card

Original 1942 German Invalidenversicherung Quittungskarte A, an official disability/pension insurance contribution record issued during the Third Reich period.

The heading reads:

“Invalidenversicherung. Quittungskarte A für Pflichtversicherung und Weiterversicherung.”

Translation:

“Invalidity Insurance – Receipt Card A for Compulsory Insurance and Continued Insurance.”

The card was issued in 1942 and is made out to Irmgard Peter. The front contains numerous original handwritten entries, official ink stamps and a circular Dienstsiegel der Ausgabestelle (official seal of the issuing office). A handwritten entry records “10. April 42.”

These Quittungskarten were official social-insurance documents used to record a worker’s contributions and preserve entitlement to benefits. Period regulations required insured workers to possess a Quittungskarte, and surviving archival collections specifically catalog this “Quittungskarte A für Pflichtversicherung und Weiterversicherung” form as used during 1941–44.

The large fold-out contribution section contains 52 numbered weekly spaces. Alternating boxes are printed:

“Entwertungstag nicht vergessen!”
“Do not forget the cancellation date!”

and:

“Beachtet Rückseite! Anwartschaftsverlust!”
“Observe the reverse! Loss of entitlement!”

The lower section provides spaces for recording Wehrpflicht (military service), Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD), illness, apprenticeship and unemployment, as well as an official accounting section.

The reverse contains extensive regulations governing the insurance. Particularly interesting is the statement that at least 26 weekly contributions per calendar year had to be paid to maintain entitlement. It also warns that improper entries, falsification or misuse of the card could result in punishment.

This type of document is particularly representative of the German wartime social-insurance system. In 1942 the contribution system was undergoing important changes: contemporary sources describe the transition away from the older contribution-stamp procedure toward recording employment and earnings directly on Quittungskarten.

The card remains largely unused internally, with the 52 contribution spaces still intact and unfilled, making the printed wartime regulations and layout especially easy to examine.
