Original WWII German 11. Schützen-Brigade four-page stapled campaign document recording the unit’s march route and combat actions on the Western Front from May 11 through July 8, 1940.

The cover is titled:

“11. Schützen-Brigade – Marschweg und Gefechte auf dem westlichen Kriegsschauplatz – 11. Mai – 8. Juli 1940”

Translation: “11th Rifle Brigade – March Route and Battles in the Western Theater of War – May 11 to July 8, 1940.”

This is a fascinating period unit record laid out chronologically by date, documenting the brigade’s movement from Germany through Belgium and France, along with specific locations where combat took place. The first page begins with the May 11 march through Bad Nenndorf, Paderborn, Marburg and Dillenburg, followed by the advance westward through Neuwied, Belgium and into France.

Numerous actual combat actions are specifically identified with the German word “Gefechte” (battles/combat actions). Entries include fighting around Le Quesnoy, Cambrai, Arras, Ypres, the Somme, the Bresle, the Seine and other locations. The document records the brigade’s progress almost day by day, including marches, rest days, headquarters locations and engagements.

Especially interesting entries include “Gefechte vor Arras” (fighting before Arras) on May 22–23, fighting at the Bouchain bridgehead and canal northeast of Cambrai, actions around Ypres, and numerous engagements during the continued German advance across France in May and June 1940. Later pages trace the unit through western France and Brittany, including Mayenne, St. Gérard, Crozon, Quimper and Lorient.

An excellent research document connected directly with the 1940 Western Campaign / Battle of France, providing a detailed chronological record of where the 11th Schützen-Brigade traveled and fought during this important period of WWII.

The document consists of four numbered typed pages plus the typed cover, held together by the original staple at the upper left. Period paper construction with no modern binding.

Condition shows expected age and handling wear, including toning, minor edge and corner wear, small creases and some wear around the staple. The typewritten text remains remarkably clear and readable throughout. Please see all photographs for exact condition. Sold exactly as shown.
