Rare Original Nazi German Third Reich 1936 SS-Standarte Weißenfels Registered Cover Hindenburg Stamps

Rare original Third Reich registered cover mailed from Weißenfels, Germany in 1936, with a particularly desirable period SS-Standarte sender marking and a colorful multiple-stamp franking.

The lower left bears a purple organizational handstamp reading:

“II. Sturmbann
84. SS-Standarte
Weißenfels”

This identifies the sender with the II. Sturmbann (2nd Battalion), 84th SS-Standarte at Weißenfels, making this considerably more interesting than an ordinary civilian registered cover. A handwritten notation beneath the stamp appears to read “Naumb. 3.”

The cover was sent by Einschreiben — Registered Mail, with the original red-and-white “R Weißenfels 1 / 702” registration label still firmly attached. The clear circular WEISSENFELS postal cancellation is dated 13.9.36, September 13, 1936.

Especially attractive is the mixed franking of six Deutsches Reich Hindenburg portrait stamps: one green 6 Pfennig, three orange 8 Pfennig, and two red 12 Pfennig stamps, totaling 54 Pfennig postage. Several stamps retain clearly visible portions of the Weißenfels cancellations.

The handwritten recipient address appears to be in Bad Klosterlausnitz, Thüringen, making this a complete piece of genuine postal history rather than an unused organizational envelope.

The cover has two punched filing holes, including one passing directly through a 12 Pfennig stamp, along with expected age toning, handling, light creasing and edge wear. Importantly, the SS unit handstamp, registration label, stamps, postal cancellations and address remain clearly visible. Please examine all photographs for exact condition.

An unusual and highly collectible combination of SS organizational history and Third Reich registered postal history, with excellent display appeal from the prominent 84. SS-Standarte Weißenfels marking, registration label and six-stamp Hindenburg franking.
